Blogging is a way of life. Or more just a way to spend time in your life. But it’s something that most writers have debated doing, or done. It’s hard to pass up. Writing is a hard industry to make a decent living in. Back in 2008, it seemed like every other week there was something about a blogger making six figures a month… a MONTH!
I don’t care how rich or poor you are, that’s a lot. Now if you just created your Medium account after reading that, hold off for just a few more minutes. There is a method to this madness. You can’t just be a good writer and after a few years become a millionaire living on your yacht in the Caribbean. After almost 70 straight days of posting blogs, I have learned a lot from this industry. Today I want to share with you the top three largest mistakes new bloggers make.
Finding a niche
Finding a niche might appear to be a daunting task, but frankly, it’s not. Find something that you want to write about and create a page to write articles just on this. There is always debate about whether it’s okay to write outside your niche and there isn’t a straight answer. However, when you are just starting and you want to make money writing, find something specific and build that fan base. If you are writing about 100 different topics then it can be difficult to retain customers.
