I Dropped Out of College and Started a High Six Figure Business at 20 Years Old
I learned around the age of 19 that the typical college route just wasn’t for me. I loved learning and wasn’t learning anything from university, to which I was also paying a ridiculous amount of money to attend their not so helpful classes. I quickly found that business and entrepreneurship was my true passion. The ability to create, and innovate, to be on the edge of technology. And to build opportunities for other people was a dream come true for me. I was hooked in seconds. But I had no clue how to get started. After all, at the time, I was still a broke college kid. I wasn’t sure what business I could build with my lunch money. I took the first-year reading hundreds of books on the topic. I dropped out of college.
Although the thing I was missing was an idea and, of course, a business, I knew college wasn’t where I should be and left as soon as I could. After months of no ideas that I wanted to go “all in” on, I started to look for a partner. Reading enough books tells you that going into business alone is suicide. But I never could find someone who worked as hard as me or had the money to start a company. Then one day, on a Friday afternoon, my uncle gave me a call. He was a travel nurse and was upset that his agency was billing the hospital over $100 an hour for him, and he was only getting paid close to $50. He was upset the agency was making just as much as he was without doing any of the work. After complaining to me, he mentions something about starting his own…
