I Haven’t Received A Paycheck In Over A Month — The Truth of Owning a Business

If you have read my blog in the past you know how much I love(hate) people talking about starting a business and working for yourself and how easy it is. How you should quit your 9–5 and travel the world. I am never one to trash on someone’s dreams and if I could I would pay everyone in the world a million bucks a year to do nothing. But I run my company full time and I know that most people should not pick this. It’s not a life that is for everyone. I am a fan of side hustles also, but not if you don’t want to work another 20 hours on top of your day job. Today I want to talk about the biggest reason why. Because a few months ago, during the middle of the pandemic my business took a heavy hit. And I went over a month without a paycheck.

The trend I’ve seen online the last few months has been about the lack of security in a 9–5 job. Now in some cases, this is true, but think about what other options you have for employment that are more secure. Working for yourself? It was really weird at first but once my company started making revenue and I was able to pay myself, it felt strange. Like I sent myself money to live off of. And a lot of people look at that and think it is cool, which it is, but I also see the bank account where it comes from. I see how much is left and how many more weeks I can afford to pay…
