I Stopped Eating Fast Food For The First Time in My Life.

For the second half of my childhood, I was raised in a small duplex with my single mother, who worked hard to provide me a good life. She had cooked all of her life, and after the divorce was done, so was her time spent in the kitchen. I, being a teenage boy, wouldn’t come to cook till years later in my life. The result? Well, I ate fast food every day for years.

Generally speaking, I was a healthy kid. I swam year-round on a competitive team. I would go outside and play with my friends, and I was apart of a cross-fit team in my spare time. One category always fell short in my healthy habitats, food. I was addicted to fast food. I ate it when I was sad, hungry, tired, hungry, happy, and hungry. At least twice a day, every day. I would go on fad diets on occasion, but nothing would stick. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t stop my addiction. When I got older, I figured I would grow out of it. I started to enjoy cooking a lot more, but the urge to go to McDonald’s never went away. I would get headaches if I didn’t eat it. Even if I just ate something home-cooked!

The addiction caught up to me soon enough, and as my swimming career came to an end. My stomach enlargement began. I still exercised, but it was more on a hobby base, not a sport. Two years later, I had gained 20 pounds, four years after, 40. I knew something…
