Is The Workaway Program Still Worth it in 2021?

Workaway, for us poor people, means a cheap way to travel. But it’s not just about saving money. Workaway allows an opportunity for you to meet locals, learn about the culture, and, if you are lucky, get some of the best non-touristy spots. For a few hundred bucks, you can purchase a year membership and participate in as many work aways as you want. But is it still worth it today? Let’s talk about it.

Workaway is a company designed for people to “work away from home.” It’s a website where people post short-term temporary jobs, and you can apply. You will work at their house in exchange for food and housing. These jobs typically range from working on farms and vineyards to taking care of kids, pets or just helping with house projects in general. Although the premise of the company is to work 2–3 days a week and get a free place to stay and food, there are some jobs like catering that offer monetary compensation as well. It sounds a little fishy, but Workaway does a great job checking the backgrounds of the host and workers.
