Is Passive Income Still Real in 2021?

Passive income. It’s an internet debate that has been around… well, since before the internet. People love to talk about making so much passive income that you will never have to work another day in your life. Although this sounds good, does it sound too good to be true? I mean, what exactly is passive income? And is this “dream life” of living on the beach doing no work really a reality? Today let’s dive into what passive income is and how it can be achieved.

I want to start by saying I do think passive income is real and possible for anyone to acquire. However, the thought that it’s absolutely free is absurd. The reason there is such a debate around passive income is that it’s a lot more complicated than making money while you are asleep. If we looked at the definition directly, it would be equivalent to putting your hands in the air every night and $10,000 appearing from thin air. $10,000 won’t appear, but there are many ways you can create it without directly working. After all, it will be hard to find a job that pays you $10,000 an hour. And if you do, let me know. But what if you worked 1,000 hours for free then on the 1,001 hours you start to make money. The more it builds up, the more money you make. By hour 3,000, you might be making around… $10,000 an hour. That is the secret to passive income. Putting time and/or money upfront with the hopes that you will be making more money from it in a few years without having to put as much time into it.
