The Fundamental Differences Between an Entrepreneur and a Business Owner
I finally did it. After years of learning and studying everything I could about starting a business here I am 2 years later running a 7 figure company. There have been some bad days, good days, and terrible weeks. However, we are going on three years stronger than ever. I love what I do, but there are times when I am unhappy. When I discuss this with people around me they say “isn’t this what you have always wanted to do?” Well yes, and at the same time no. I had always wanted to be a serial entrepreneur. On the edge of technology and here I am managing over 20 employees and looking at spreadsheets. I know it’s the same right? Not exactly…or at all. Today I want to go through the differences between a business owner and an entrepreneur.
I heard someone on a business podcast word it best(sorry I don’t remember the name.) “The biggest difference between an entrepreneur and a business owner is if your business is a wheel, a business owner is a cog in that wheel and an entrepreneur is someone watching the wheel.” Lots of wheels right? This is one of the best explanations I have heard and it works every time I tell people there is a difference. As a business owner, you are essential to the operation.
