Taking a Weekly Sabbath Has Taught me More Than Almost Anything Else(D.35)

The Sabbath. Growing up, my father always told me that it was a day of rest — a day of course where work is not done. A day to worship. A day is most associated with Sunday in Christianity. I don’t talk much at all about my religion because it’s something I find very personal. If I were to put a name on it, however, it would be Christianity. The timeline between my faith and my sabbath is tricky, but all and all, this is one thing I make sure I do every week, and here is why you should as well.

The burnout of being a small business owner is something we all face. We get pushed in the dirt, thrown to the ground, and tossed around for hours on end. Then we get back up to work even harder than ever. This is something I can do, and I would like to think decently well. I can do it all day from 5 AM to 11 PM at night, under one condition. At least once a week, I have a day off, Sunday. Most Sundays, I spend the whole day trying to be a lazy bum. I don’t feel bad for not working, and I don’t try to either. Sometimes I will get work done, but only if I really want to. When I mean lazy, I am not just laying in bed eating Cheetos until Monday rolls around. I still try and work out, read, and journal. But this one day always sets my batteries on recharge to take on the week.
