The Story of How I Got Banned From The UK
During the Summer of 2019, my girlfriend at the time and I decided to quit our stable office jobs, buy $3,000+ worth of equipment, and backpack Europe for a summer while living in a tent. This decision took time and will always be my most memorable summer. We were in the middle of the wilderness with no water, dealt with robbers, not having enough food, but one of the biggest “highlights” of the trip was being denied entry into the UK and banned. Here is that story.
So there we were in the hot summer heat of Nice France. We never planned on being in France, but here we are two months later. We spent a week in the attic of a retired french couple and began to figure out how we were going to get home with our last $1,000 bucks. We didn’t have another place to stay or the money to book something, so we had to think fast. The cheapest and only way we could afford to go home was at the end of August and to Florida(we lived in Missouri at the time, so still 1500 miles away.) But as long as we can make it across the Atlantic, we would be able to figure it out from there. It was late July at this time, so we had a month of about $400 to our name. We decided to try the work away. We were sick of living in a tent, and our most expensive item was housing. If we could get that for free, we would be able to enjoy the rest of our days in Europe.
