The Three Types of Things We Spend Our Money On
Money. As sad as it may sound, it makes the world go around. I mean, why else do 5 billion people work 40+ hours a week for that lovely paycheck. It doesn’t always have to sound bad. I mean, we need to spend money. We need food, gas, and always that one vacation we wait all year for. You can’t blame people for wanting more money. But why is it by the time I am about to get my next paycheck, I am already out of money? I mean, where does it all go. How does it get there? Today I want to dive into the three types of things we spend. This will help you categorize your spending and determine any cutbacks for a more effective budget.
The Need
The first category is the need. This is pretty self-explanatory. This is anything we buy that we need — rent/mortgage, gas for our car, staples of food, etc. For the most part, these will always be in your budget. When you’re evaluating this category, think about where you can cut back. Most people might think this is set in stone because they are in relation to our daily habits a lot of times. Do you drive 45 minutes to work every day, or 15? We can’t change where work is, and maybe where we live but moving is a hassle. The best thing I can say about this category is finding creative ways to cut costs. I’m not saying you have to shop cheaper, but maybe grow microgreens in your closet? Rent out a spare…
