What I Wish I Knew Before Owning My Own Business
Over the last year, I came from a naive young man trying to get a company that made and had no money, in an industry I knew nothing of, between my long warehouse shifts. I was lost, getting paid less than I deserve and I knew it. For months, there was no light at the end of the tunnel. I put my head down and worked hard. Here I am a year later running my company full time enjoying life, being paid whatever I want. Although social media loves to depict an “entrepreneur” as this glamorous person that can do what they chose. This is far from the truth. Most days end in more stress than ever, 15 missed calls and 31 emails that I didn’t get the chance to attend during regular hours. I am lucky that I can work for myself, but before you dive into this pain and misery filled tunnel to success, let me give you a little heads up.
If you think owning a business will be great, you are right! It is, but it’s not for everyone. I can also tell you that owning a business means more work than you ever imagined. I have been woken up from emergency calls at 3:00 AM on a Saturday, worked till midnight only to get up at 6:00 AM with another 10 problems. Yea, consider yourself lucky if you work a job where you exit through the doors after a shift and not have to think about working…until tomorrow.
